I have an external disk, and Windows 10 always calls it "Q:" when it's plugged in. Once it completes, qbittorrent moves that torrent's files to the specific place I chose (either elsewhere on C, or to a place on the external disk). Also under QBT_dest is a directory "default dest temp" which is where each torrent initially goes during its initial download, during the time when it is incomplete. This is the default destination of a new torrent, if I don't choose something else it will go there, and I can move it later. Also under QBT_dest, I have a subdirectory "misc to move". (and those may have further subdirectory levels). It has subdirectories "Ebooks", "Movies", "Music", "TV shows", etc.
Here's my directory arrangement and my behavior: Starting this week, I may keep torrents on the PC's drive and some torrents on each of two external disks.
I have a similar situation: I use a desktop PC, along with an external disk. To answer your title question, I don't know if there's a way to totally skip the "checking" process. Always pause torrents before quitting qB. And voila! All torrents are in completed state ,ready to seed on resume. If the torrents show "MISSING FILES" error, juts quit qB, reconnect the external hard disk, and restart qB. I have tried pausing all torrents before disconnecting the HDD, but even then upon re connection I have to go through Checking. Is there anyway I can start seeding the torrents as soon as I connect the HDD and skip the Checking stage? This almost takes around 30 to 40 mins for all torrents to complete checking and start seeding. After reconnecting the hard disk, all the torrents go through "Checking" stage. So whenever I launch qB without the harddisk being connected, all the torrents first show "Missing files" error. I can't keep the external HDD attached at all times. I have almost 150 torrent files and around 1 TB of data that i store in my external hard disk.
